Rate Increase Update for August 2019

1/8/2019

Dear Valued Clients,

PEAK SEASON SURCHARGE (PSS) and GENEREAL RATE INCREASE (GRI)

August see’s the commencement of the Liners applying Peak Season (PSS) and General Rate Increase’s on the back the start of Peak Season. Southbound vessels Ex Asia into New Zealand are seeing increased volumes resulting in current vessels sailing at or close to full capacity.

Over the past couple of weeks, we have seen the lines advising GRI’s of USD 300.00 per TEU on all cargo Asia to New Zealand effective from the 1st of August 2019. These levels are subject to final confirmation, but we do believe a GRI/ PSS of some sort will be applied up to the level advertised.

It is BRi’s policy that any GRI/ RR/ PSS is passed onto our clients as disbursed, and once the quantum’s are finalised we will update you accordingly.

As we head into Peak Season it is important we consider/ manage your volume requirements over this period – So to ensure the best opportunity to maintain integrity of your supply chain advanced notice of booking requirements will assist by forward booking three to four weeks in advance of required sailing dates.

NEW ZEALAND DOMESTIC TRANSPORT INCREASES

Due to scheduled NZ Government increases in Excise Duty and Road User Charges as part of their 3year plan to increase both, the Domestic Transport Industry has had to pass on these increase charges to maintain their service levels.

We are seeing our cartage partners increasing cartage base rates between one and five percent, and their FAF’s continue to fluctuate in line with current fuel price indexes.
